Walkers news: April 11 -- St. Louis 7, Kansas City 1
Record: 3-1, 1st (Tied/w. Cedar Rapids), 1 GA Springfield and Des Moines
Steven Brault took a shutout into the bottom of the seven inning by which time St. Louis had built a 7-0 lead, and the River Walkers would go on to a 7-1 win over Kansas City at Kansas City Municipal Stadium (1969).
Brault allowed just two hits over his first six innings before Grant Witherspoon doubled with one out in the seventh and scored on an Addison Barger single.
Brault (1-0) would complete the inning without any further damage.
He would end up allowing the one run on four hits. He struck out two but walked four.
The Walkers jumped in front 1-0 in the top of the second against Pit Masters starter Pablo Lopez.
Jean Carmona drew a lead-off walk and went to third on a Tanner Kohlhepp single.
Austin Barnes scored Carmona with a sacrifice fly.
St. Louis broke the game open with a four-run sixth.
Carlos Vidal had the big hit with a bases-loaded double which cleared the bags.
Carmona hit his second double of the game, scoring a pair of runs and giving him three RBIs for the game.
Nick Lodolo worked a scoreless eighth inning for St. Louis. John Curtiss did the same in the ninth to end it.
