Walkers news: May 13 -- Evansville 14, St. Louis 4
Record: 20-10, 1st, 1 GA Springfield
Tied 2-2, Evansville scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning and continued to add on from there as the Big Bossemen routed St. Louis 14-4 at Yankee Stadium (1952).
An error by River Walkers first baseman Rhys Hoskins helped set the stage for the outburst, putting runners at first and second rather than being an inning ending double plate.
Seth Beer followed with a single off St. Louis starting pitcher Jimmy Lambert to load the bases.
Will Benson quickly unloaded them with a double to make it 5-2.
Back-to-back home runs from Beer and Benson off Lambert in the fifth make it 7-2.
Rudy Rott hit a two-run homer off reliever Tim Hill as part of a three-run sixth inning.
Beer, who would go 5-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs, drove in the other run with a single.
The Bossemen hit the Walkers with a four-spot in the eighth.
Jasardo Chisholm plated two runs with a double. Benson had an RBI double.
Victor Robles made it 14-3 with an RBI single.
Evansville starter Carlos Rodon (3-1) worked five innings, allowing three runs on four hits.
J.B. Wendelken and Mike Vasil pitched two innings apiece to wrap things up.
