Alex Faedo took a shutout into the eighth inning and St. Louis scored single runs in four separate innings to down Quad City 4-1 at Busch Stadium (1997).
Already leading 3-0, Faedo had allowed just one hit -- a Duke Kinamon double to leadoff the seventh -- going into the top of the eighth.
With two outs, pinch-hitter Ka'ai Tom homered to make it 3-1.
Faedo (5-1) exited after retiring Shane Shifflett for the final out.
In his eight innings, Faedo allowed just the two hits. He struck out 12 and walked two.
Edwin Diaz didn't have much difficulty in the ninth, as he notched his 11th save.
The River Walkers broke on top 1-0 in the bottom of the first.
Bo Bichette drew a lead-off walk from Thunder starter Brad Beshirs.
A Carlos Vidal bunt moved him to second and he scored on an Andrew Benintendi double.
Edmond Americaan touched Beshirs for a lead-off homer in the fifth, making it 2-0.
An inning later, Beshirs walked Andrew Benintendi to open the inning. He would scored on a one-out double by Jean Carmona.
St. Louis answered Quad City's run in the top of the eighth with one of its own in the bottom.
Tanner Kohlhepp crossed the plate after he singled with two outs and scored on Carmona's second double of the game.
