Walkers news: Starting rotation takes big hit with loss of Medina
The St. Louis River Walkers have announced that right-handed starting pitcher Adonis Medina will miss up to four months after suffering a shoulder injury in an 8-6 15-inning win at Springfield on May 27.
Medina failed to record an out in that game and exited after facing just four batters.
Acquired in an off-season trade which sent outfielder Michael Toglia and third baseman Alex Bregman to Detroit, the 28-year-old Medina had impressed in his nine starts with the Walkers going 3-4 with a 3.33 ERA.
He will be replaced in the rotation by Jimmy Lambert, who was recently demoted from the rotation and sent to AAA Memphis.
In eight starts this season, Lambert, 31, has gone 2-5 with a 7.71 ERA.
Derek Gordon, who was called up from Memphis when Lambert was demoted, is scheduled to make his first MLB start today.
