I listened to the new album by The National when it first came out and then somehow forgot about it and haven't listened to it since.
And that's no knock on the album, just a product of my middle-aged brain failing to retain information.
So...re-listening right now.
I have long been a fan of the band- I believe their output has been consistently superior, kind of like a baseball player who gets under-valued because he quietly goes out and puts up good season after good season with little fanfare- and am particularly fond of their Alligator/Boxer period. (The Geese of Beverly Road is one of my favorite songs.)
