Walkers news: June 13 -- St. Louis 12, Cedar Rapids 1, Game 1

Record: 41-18, 1st, 6.5 GA Springfield
It was quite a day on the mound and at the plate for St. Louis starting pitcher Steven Brault in the River Walkers 12-1 rout of Cedar Rapids in the opening game of a doubleheader at Busch Stadium.
On the mound, Brault took a no-hitter into the top of the sixth inning -- when Sam Cohen led off with a homer -- and ended up allowing just the one run on one hit before retiring after eight innings.
Tim Hill maintained the one-hitter by sending the Golden Grapplers down in order in the ninth.
At the plate, Brault was four-for-four with three triples, a run scored and four RBIs.
A two-run double from Brault in the second inning off Cedar Rapids starting pitcher Carlos Martinez provided the game's first two runs.
Rhys Hoskins belted a two-run homer off C-Mart in the third, extending that lead to 4-0.
Brault's second double of the game, in the fourth, made it 5-0.
Hoskins had an RBI single off reliever Zach Schellenger in the fifth to make it 6-0.
After Cohen's homer got the Grapplers on the board, the Walkers would add six more runs in the sixth through eighth innings.
Brault's third double scored a run in the sixth.
Hoskins second homer of the game, this one off reliever Mychel Givens, led off the seventh.
Hoskins finished the game 3 for 5 with two homers, two runs scored and four RBIs.

Alek Thomas hit a two-run shot off Givens later in that frame.
Brault also doubled and scored on a Tanner Kohlhepp two-run double.
