A two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning from Andrew Benintendi snapped a 1-1 tie and Steven Brault pitched into the eighth inning as St. Louis opened the post All-Star break portion of its schedule with a 3-1 win over Green Bay at Busch Stadium (1997).
Long Haulers reliever Rodolfo Martinez hit Rhys Hoskins with a pitch to open the bottom of the sixth.
Benintendi then smacked a 2-1 pitch 421 feet over the wall in right-center to give the River Walkers the lead for good.
Brault (9-4) pitched until allowing a two-out double to Ozzie Albies in the eighth.
In all, Brault allowed just one run on six hits. He struck out eight and walked two.
Danny Grigg came on but walked Mike Trout.
Jake Brentz got the ball and walked Bobby Bradley to load the bases.
But Brentz got Addison Russell to strike out to end the inning.
Edwin Diaz worked around a one-out walk in the ninth by getting Jesse Winker to hit into a game-ending double play as he notched his 16th save.
