Record: 83-41, 1st, 9 GA Kansas City and Springfield
Jimmy Lambert tossed the first shutout of the season for St. Louis, going the distance with a two-hitter in a 4-0 win over Cedar Rapids at Shibe Park (1949).
Lambert took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before giving up a lead-off single to Sam Cohen.
He also allowed a pair of singles in the ninth -- to Cohen and Matt McLain -- but got out of the inning to keep his shutout in intact.
Overall, Lambert (8-9) allowed three hits over the nine innings. He struck out five and walked none.
The River Walkers got the game's first two runs in the second inning against Golden Grapplers starting pitcher Rick Atkinson.
Larry Ernesto led off with a single. He stole second and scored on a Jean Carmona single.
A sacrifice bunt from Johan Camargo moved Carmona to second.
Reese McGuire singled to plant Carmona at third, so that when Alek Thomas hit into a fielder's choice it was 2-0.
Carmona led off the fourth with a solo homer off Atkinson.
The score reached 4-0 in the seventh after Alek Thomas drew a lead-off walk from reliever Felipe Vazquez.

A bunt from Lambert moved him to second.
A passed ball planted him at third.
Andrew Benintendi's single made it 4-0.
Walkers second baseman Bo Bichette was forced to leave the game after being injured while running the bases.
The extent of his injury is unknown.
