Larry Ernesto hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning and Aaron Civale allowed one run over seven innings to lead St. Louis to a 3-1 win over Twin Cities at Busch Stadium (1997).
The River Walkers first inning damage all started with two outs.
Rhys Hoskins and Andrew Benintendi both drew two-out walks from Snow Cats starter Regi Grace.
Ernesto made him pay with a 349-foot liner over the right-field wall and a quick 3-0 lead.
Civale (3-2) took a shutout into the seventh when Jake Burger hit a solo homer.
He exited after seven innings, allowing the one run on five hits. He struck out seven and walked one.
John Curtiss (0.1 IP) and Tim Hill (0.2) combined on a scoreless eighth inning.
Edwin Diaz struck out two of the three Twin Cities batters who stepped to the plate in the ninth for his 20th save.
