Walkers news: Sept. 26 -- St. Louis 6, Springfield 2

Record: 92-62, 1st, 7.5 GA Springfield; Magic number: 2
St. Louis jumped out to a 6-0 lead and cruised to a 6-2 win over Springfield at Olympic Stadium (Montreal).
With the victory, the River Walkers magic number to clinch the National League South Division to two.
It didn't take St. Louis long to break out in front.
In the top of the first, Carlos Vidal singled with one out.

He moved to second when Rhys Hoskins was hit by a pitch, and scored on a two-out double by Tanner Kohlhepp.
That advantage jumped to 4-0 an inning later.
Reese McGuire scored the first run after reaching on an error by Prairie Fighters first baseman Eric Hosmer and scored on a single by Steven Brault.
Bo Bichette handled the other two with a two-run homer.
A RBI single from Vidal in the fourth made it 5-0.
Kohlhepp hit a solo homer off reliever Mark McConnell in the fifth, as it became 6-0.
Brault took a shutout into the fifth before running into trouble.
He allowed three singles and a sacrifice bunt to the first four batters, that third single, by Daniel Becerra, made it 6-1.
Another run scored on a fielder's choice.
Springfield threatened again in the sixth as it had runners at first and third with two outs when Brault made his exit.
John Curtiss stepped in to strike out pinch-hitter Eugenio Suarez to quell the threat.
Overall, Brault (11-7) allowed two runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings. He struck out five and walked one.
Curtiss faced just the one batter.
Nick Lodolo handled the seventh and eighth.
Williams Jerez took care of the ninth without allowing a run.
