ALCS Game 5: Akron 6, Fort Wayne 4
It'll be the Akron Flying Feet vs. the St. Louis River Walkers.
Akron completed its upset of Fort Wayne with a 6-4 victory in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series at Ebbet Field (1948)..
The victory advances the Flying Feet into the World Series where it will meet St. Louis.
The River Walkers will have home-field advantage after sweeping Chicago in the NLCS. The lower seeds prevailed in both series.
(Once again, no game log was available).
Fort Wayne jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and led 3-1 after three.
The Feet took command in the fourth, scoring four times.
Logan Davidson hit a solo homer off Mad Men starter Jose Berrios and Ben Shewmake had an RBI single.
Fort Wayne's Ha-seong Kim would tie it with a single off Akron starter in the sixth.
But Akron would score once in the eighth (Davidson's second solo homer of the game, this one off Eric Warren) and once in the ninth (Shewmake also with a solo shot off Warren) to seize command.
Chris Archer pitched the first six innings,. allowing four runs on eight hits.
Jesus Cervantes handled the final 1.2 of the game for his first save of the postseason.
