Nate Bennett, the 36-year old first baseman for the Philadelphia Mud Hens who is the most prolific slugger in WPK history thus far, has now become just the 6th man to reach the 2000 career hit mark.
The quiet and well-liked Bennett isn't off to his best start this season but most scouts agree that he still has great skills at the plate, even if his defense is something of a liability at this stage of his career. His next personal goal in terms of hitting milestones is to be the first WPK player to hit 400 HR's, and he is still 23 shy of that level and likely won't make it this season, at least at the pace he is on.
