Walkers news: April 17 -- St. Louis 6, Rockford 1

Record: 7-4, 1st, 1 GA Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and Kansas City
The St. Louis River Walkers came within one out of shutting out Rockford for the second consecutive game before settling for a 6-1 win at RFK Stadium (1962).
Alex Faedo (2-0) carried most of the load allowing no runs on three hits over the game's opening 7.2 innings.
Faedo, who at the plate hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to make it 3-0, also struck out six and walked none.

Williams Jerez got the final out of the eighth.
Derek Gordon sat down the first two batters in the ninth, but Drew Mendoza got to him for a solo homer.
Drew Ellis then grounded out to end it.
The River Walkers took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, after Bo Bichette drew a lead-off walk from Lighting starting pitcher Konnor Pilkington.
He moved to second on an Edmond Americaan sacrifice bunt and scored when Jared Thomas doubled.
Faedo's two-run homer in the fourth inning off Pilkington was the sixth of his career.
Rhys Hoskins pelted a two-out homer off reliever James Carney in the fifth, making it 4-0.
Bo Bichette took reliever Rick Sessions deep for a two-run homer in the ninth, completing the scoring for the Walkers.
