Walkers news: April 22 -- St. Louis 8, Twin Cities 2
Record: 10-6, 2nd, 0.5 GB Cedar Rapids
Alex Faedo pitched seven shutout innings and St. Louis had built a 6-0 lead by the time Twin Cities got on the board, as the River Walkers completed a three-game sweep of the Snow Cats with an 8-2 win at the Metrodome (1996).
Faedo (3-0) allowed just two hits over his seven innings. He struck out 10 and walked one.
Derek Gordon handled the final two innings, but did allow a two-run homer to Javier Valdes in the eighth to break up the shutout.
The Walkers took the lead on the game's fourth pitch, lead-off hitter Bo Bichette hitting a solo homer off Cats starter Mack Anglin.
It was 3-0 by the time the bottom of the fourth rolled around, Vidal Brujan driving in a pair with a triple off Anglin.
Brujan scored a run in the seventh when he doubled off reliever Eric Watkins and scored when Watkins commited an error on a ball hit by Bo Bichette.
A walk and a pair of singles allowed St. Louis to load the bases without an out in the eighth.
Jared Thomas drove in the first of two runs with a sacrifice fly.
A single by Larry Ernesto then made it 6-0.
