Rhys Hoskins came through with a big hit for the second straight game -- this one a two-run double in the seventh inning -- as St. Louis downed Cedar Rapids 8-2 at Shibe Park (1949).
Down 2-1 going into the top of the seventh inning, Fernando Tatis Jr. tied it when he led off with a home run off Golden Grapplers reliever Todd Peterson.
Jared Thomas followed with a double and moved to third when pinch-hitter Edmond Americaan singled.
Peterson retired the next two batters, bringing Hoskins to the plate.
On a 0-1 pitch, Hoskins lined a double into left-center field scoring both runners and putting the Walkers up 4-2.
The River Walkers broke the game open with four runs in the eighth.
Thomas drove in the first two with a homer off Evan Palmer.
Hoskins collected his third RBI of the game when he drew a bases-loaded walk from Trevor Bauer.
Andrew Benintendi made it 8-2 when he scored Vidal Brujan with a sacrifice fly.
Walkers starter Alex Faedo (5-1) took care of the first six innings, allowing two runs on five hits.
Danny Grigg, Williams Jerez and John Curtiss all pitched an inning apiece to close out the win.
