Walkers news: May 17 -- St. Louis 5, Cedar Rapids 3, 10 innings

Record: 19-18, 4th, 1.5 GB Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and Springfield
Down 3-0, St. Louis tied it with three runs in the top of the ninth inning and won it after Rhys Hoskins hit a two-run homer in the 10th to defeat Cedar Rapids 5-3 at Shibe Park (1949).
The win allowed the River Walkers to complete a three-game sweep of the Golden Grapplers.
Carlos Vidal drew a one-out walk from Todd Peterson in the top of the 10th to bring Hoskins to the plate.
Hoskins then smashed a 1-0 pitch 358 feet over the left-field wall for his third game-winning hit in as many games.
Cedar Rapids had used the long ball to go up 3-0.
Jose Leyva hit a two-run homer off Walkers starting pitcher Argenis Batista in the fourth inning to put the Grapplers up 2-0.
Domingo Santana then got to Batista for a solo shot in the seventh.
But Cedar Rapids could not maintain that lead to 27 outs.
Vidal also got things started in the ninth with a lead-off single off reliever Evan Palmer.
A one-out double from Andrew Benintendi landed Vidal on third.
Fernando Tatis Jr. chased Vidal home with St. Louis' first run with a sacrifice fly, also the inning's second out.
But Bauer walked JT Schwartz and pinch-hitter Vidal Brujan tied it with a two-run double.
After a string of bad outings, Batista was much better despite giving up the two homers.
He went seven innings, allowing the three runs on six hits. He struck out seven and walked none.
Tim Hill worked a scoreless eighth inning.
Edwin Diaz (2-1) shouldered both the ninth and 10th to earn the win.
