Walkers news: May 30 -- St. Louis 10, Madison 8

Record: 26-23, 3rd, 0.5 GB Springfield and Des Moines
Down 5-3, St. Louis exploded for seven runs in the top of the fifth inning and then held on for a 10-8 win over Madison at Comiskey Park (1969).
The River Walkers held a 3-0 lead after two innings, only to have Madison scored four times in the third and once in the fourth to go up 5-3.
In that fifth inning, the River Walkers had their first five batters reach base -- five singles and a walk -- with Jared Thomas and Edmond Americaan driving in runs with their hits while Jean Carmona drew a bases-loaded walk.
Reliever Kyle Hurt was on the mound for all the damage.
After a strike out of pitcher Steven Brault, Bo Bichette drove in three with a triple as St. Louis went up 9-5.
Carlos Vidal later drove in a run with a sacrifice fly off Ethan Hankins, making it 10-5.
Madison did rally, almost all of it behind a three-run homer from M.J. Melendez off Tim Hill to make it 10-8 in the bottom of the eighth.
But Jake Brentz ended the eighth without further damage.
Brentz also was spotless in the ninth for his second save of the season.
Brault (4-2) earned the win after allowing five runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings.
Tim Hill finished the seventh and got the first two outs of the eighth before being have to be bailed out by Brentz.
