Walkers news: June 5 -- Cincinnati 14, St. Louis 0
Record:28-26, 3rd, 2 GB Springfield
Cincinnati pounded St. Louis starting pitcher Steven Brault for three runs in each of the first two innings and breezed to a 14-0 win at Busch Stadium (1997).
Things started badly for Brault and never really got better.
He walked Landon Jordan to start the game. Brandon Marsh followed with a single and Travis Swaggerty made it 1-0 with a double.
Vladimir Guerrero and Freddie Freeman also would earn RBIs in the inning when runs scored on their ground outs.
In the second, Brault retired the lead-off batter but Tony Esparza followed with a double and pitcher Cristofe Tineo singled.
Jordon scored Esparza on a ground out.
Swaggerty and Vladimir Guerero Jr. drove in the other two with singles.
It wouldn't be the seventh inning until Skyline scored again, pitcher Tanner Dodson with a lead-off homer off Argenis Batista.
Cincinnati scored three more times in the eighth, Willie Calhoun with his first homer of the season, a three-run shot off John Curtiss.
Skyline piled it on with four more in the ninth.
Francisco Meija and Esparza both had two-run singles off Tim Hill.
Three pitchers combined on the shutout for Cincinnati.
Tineo (2-2) worked the first five scoreless innings, allowing four hits.
Dodson worked one inning.
Blayne Enlow handled the final three, and earned himself a save despite the lopsided score.
