Here is a 6'4 hurler who spent 10 seasons in the Phillies organization. He pitched well enough 59 wins and an 3.81 ERA with an 11-6 effort in AAA in 1964 but never a drop in that hoped for cup of coffee. Unusual in looking in his numbers that Harry was predominately a relief pitcher during his minor league career when relievers would routinely surpass 100 innings, Considering the infamous collapse of Gene Mauch's '64 Phillies , perhaps he could have gleaned a surprisingly effective spot start out of Harry Oliver amid the swoon. Mauch kept sending his diminishing staff and spent starters out on 2 days rest and not once did it work.
