Walkers news: July 4 -- St. Louis 3, Kansas City 0
Record: 45-33, 1st, 4.5 GA Springfield
Adonis Medina pitched deep into the seventh inning, and a pair of relievers did the rest as St. Louis downed Kansas City 3-0 at Kansas City Municipal Stadium (1969).
Medina (6-6) turned in a dominant performance before tiring. He scattered four hits while striking out 10 and walking three.
Williams Jerez got the final out of the seventh inning and the first two of the eighth.
Edwin Diaz recorded the final four outs to earn his 15th save.
The Walkers used the long ball to gain the lead, Jean Carmona and JT Schwartz both hitting solo homers off Pit Masters starting pitcher Juan Sandoval in the top of the sixth.
St. Louis got the game's only other run an inning later.
With two outs, Mike Tucker issued consecutive walks to Carlos Vidal and Jean Carmona.
Rhys Hoskins scored Vidal with a double, however, Carmona was thrown out at the plate.
