Noah Naylor hit a two-run pinch-hit homer off St. Louis closer Edwin Diaz in the top of the ninth inning to help lift Cedar Rapids to a 4-3 win at Busch Stadium (1997).
Diaz opened the top of the ninth with a walk to Domingo Santana.
Naylor then turned on the pitch from Diaz and hit it 366 feet over the wall in right field to put the Golden Grapplers up 4-3.
Down 1-0, St. Louis rallied to go up 3-1.
Rhys Hoskins homered off Cedar Rapids starter Carlos Martinez.
A two-run homer from Andrew Benintendi off Zach Schellenger in the fifth had pushed the Walkers advantage to 3-1.
Jose Leyva connected for a RBI single off Angel Tiburcio in the seventh to make it 3-2.
His hit drove in Matt McLain, who had reached on a fielder's choice and then stole second base.
It took Cedar Rapids nine innings to get through the game.
Starter Carlos Martinez lasted just an inning before leaving with an elbow injury.
He was followed by Thomas Burrows (1.1 IP), Jose Alvarado (0.2), Patrick Weigel (1.0), Schellenger (1.0), Evan Palmer (0.2), Todd Peterson (0.1), Jose LeClerc (2.0) and Takahiro Norimoto (1.0).
LeClerc (4-3) came out of t with the win.
Norimoto earned his first save.
