March 13th, 1988
Today the Giants are pitching John Burkett against the Expos and Wally Whitehurst.
I led off the game by lining out to Shane Mack in deep centre. 1 for 28.
Mack returned the favour by leading off the bottom of the 1st by grounding out to me.
I then got the last out in the 2nd, taking a Todd Brown grounder.
I led off the 3rd by outrunning a grounder to 1st for an infield hit, only my 2nd hit of the Spring. I then stole 2nd. Mike Aldrete walked. Chili Davis hit into a fielder's choice, getting Mike, as I moved to 3rd. Bob Brenley then doubled and I scored. Steve Stanicek doubled, scoring Chili and Bob. Alan Cockrell tripled, scoring Steve. Brian Giles singled, scoring Alan. Brad Wellman reached on an error, moving Brian to 2nd. John walked.
The Expos pulled Whitehurst and brought in Mark Tindall to face me with the bases loaded and one out. Tindall hit me, giving me an RBI the hard way!
Giants lead 6-0
I was lifted for a pinch hitter in the 5th.
We ended up winning 7-0.
I went 1 for 2 with a single, a HBP, a run, an RBI, and a stolen base.
I am still only hitting .069.
