It's that magical time of year again, when we get to hop into the WPK Time Machine and get a glimpse of the future, in the form of a few players who will eventually enter the WPK universe as relatives of current WPK players.
First let's zoom ahead to 1992, when Liam Russell, who at this moment is the two-year old son of current Philadelphia relief pitcher Tristan Russell, will become eligible for the amateur player draft. Our view of the future, limited as it is, tells us that young Liam will be a pitcher like his father, and profiles to fit the description of a WPK lifer (which is to say, moderately talented but very smart, hard working, and a good leader- the type who might well be a coach or manager after his playing career).
Hopping back into the time machine, we find ourselves in the yer 2024, the furthest into the WPK future we have ventured thus far, and we see young flame-throwing pitcher Quinton Murphy, who is the grandson of current Washington back-up second baseman Van Kendrick. It appears that the hard throwing Murphy's kryptonite will be the long ball, as he will suffer from a lack of movement to his pitches. Will it keep him from being a successful big-league hurler? Only time will tell.
