Another former 1-1, El Paso's Kyle Newsome, who went first in the 1972 draft, claimed the Rookie of the Month honors in the SJL, for the third time this season. The big question now for the hard working power pitcher is whether he will develop his secondary pitches enough to escape the bullpen and become the front-line starter he was projected to be.
In the most recent off-season, Taiwanese slugger Chia-Ch'ing Chou was one of the more sought after International Free Agents. In this year of the dead-ball (at least in terms of homers) he hasn't really produced as hoped. But the Baltimore Lords hope for even more from him next season and a strong finish to 1976 gives them evidence that the hope might not be false.
