Like the title says, my game is just displaying a black rectangle for all facegens. The game still pauses periodically to "create" new pictures for players, but these end up just being black boxes again. I'm using Linux as well (Mint 19.3) Try Classic 3D View instead of Modern if you haven't already. I am running an imported universe from OOTP20 that already had pics too, but I noticed some of them had changed. I'm also in "wide" view.
