I'm running Xubuntu Linux 19.10 (obviously an Ubuntu variant), and was about to start a thread asking how many people actually run the stand-alone (non-Steam) Linux version of the game, because it can't be all that many. I ask questions, like how to enable tracemode in Linux, and get crickets. And various threads on troubleshooting ask things like "are you on PC or Mac, Steam, or Standalone?" with no mention of the Linux version at all. My guess is that there are just a few dozen of us, but it's just a guess.
I have several issues with OOTP and graphics but not Facegen. It seems to work fine, either with an existing universe or a new test game.
My problems are that whenever I start the 3D ballpark construction kit the whole machine grinds to a halt. I can sometimes click the X to close OOTP and eventually, minutes later get the program to close. But responsiveness of the entire system (which is a pretty high-end Ryzen 9 machine) essentially stops. All programs become unresponsive and I'll usually have to hard reboot.
