Sweet songs from The Spile
Welcome back to another incarnation of old timey baseball! For newcomers to these here parts, a quick introduction... the owner of the Waffletown Syrups has a strong affinity for the old days of the game, so with that in mind he has directed his General Manager to obtain old timey players in the mold of Fatty Briody, Ice Box Chamberlain, and Toad Ramsey.
With only a week to acquire the desired 26 players and get them ready for their inaugural season, the Waffletown GM knows he can't be picky and will snatch up the best (i.e. - cheapest) deals he can get and worry about improvements down the road (as long as he doesn't get fired).
After the first day of wheeling and deeling, Waffletown has obtained 14 players:
-Burgess Whitehead (60) - 1936
-Larry Kopf (54) - 1919
-Dick Hoblitzell (64) - 1915
-Lee Tannehill (48) - 1909
-Ethan Allen (69) - 1934
-Bill Sherdel (65) - 1928
-Pat Duncan (66) - 1922
-Eddie Moore (66) - 1925
-Heinie Meine (65) - 1931
-Art Nehf (57) - 1922
-Del Bissonette (82) - 1928
-Clyde King (43) - 1947
-Hank Severeid (67) - 1923
-George Caster (62) - 1944
this leaves 12 more slots to fill before opening day.
