In the bottom of the first, Ivan Rodriguez brought Catalanotto home with a sacrifice fly as the Rangers scored their first run before they got their first hit.

In the top of the fifth, Olerud put the Mariners on the board with a lead off homer that went 365 feet. Guillen tied the game with an RBI single.

In the top of the eighth, following a lead off double, Tim Crabtree took the mound for the Rangers. Wilson put the Mariners in the lead with an RBI single. Martinez added a two-out RBI single.
In the bottom of the eighth, Arthur Rhodes took the mound for the Mariners. The Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out. Rhodes set Kapler down on strikes for the first out. The Rangers, however, tied the game when two runners scored on a Bell throwing error after fielding a Caminiti grounder. McLemore kept the game tied when he threw Palmeiro out at home after the Ranger had tagged up and tried to score on a Velarde fly out.
In the top of the ninth, Jonathan Johnson took the mound for the Rangers.
In the bottom of the ninth, with a runner on first and two out, Jeff Nelson took the mound for the Mariners and struck out Ivan Rodriguez to send the game into extra innings.
After nine: Seattle 4 Texas 4.
In the bottom of the tenth, with the bases empty and one out, Norm Charlton took the mound for the Mariners. With the winning run at first and two out, Caminiti flew to right and the game continued.
In the top of the eleventh, Boone hit a solo shot 432 feet to put the Mariners back in the lead. With bases empty and one out, Danny Kolb took the mound for the Rangers. Guillen hit a two-out run-scoring single.
In the bottom of the eleventh, the Rangers got a lead off single but Sierra grounded into the 5-4-3 to wipe out the base runner. A walk followed but then Galarraga lined to third to end the game.
The Mariners got 11 hits and overcame three errors to get the win. Rangers hitters struck out 10 times.
Final score: Seattle 6 Texas 4 11 innings.
