Josh Shuler provided the game's only runs with a homer in the top of the first inning and Kyle Wright along with a trio of relievers combined on a two-hit shutout as Kansas City won 2-0 over St. Louis at Busch Stadium (1997).
River Walkers starting pitcher Steven Brault allowed a single to Greg Jones to open the game, two batters later Shuler cranked out his 31st home run of the season to put the Pit Masters in front.
Wright, meanwhile, took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before allowing a one-out single to pinch-hitter JT Schwartz.
He retired the next two hitters to get out of the inning.
Wright (10-12) exited after that, having allowed just the one hit. He struck out two and walked one.
David Berg, Mike Tucker and Wade Davis all provided a scoreless inning of relief.
The Walkers only other hit came in the eighth on a double by Edmond Americaan.
St. Louis would eventually load the bases with two outs, but Berg struck out Rhys Hoskins to end the inning.
Davis earned his 28th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
