Flames draw Canucks in First Round

Divisional Rivals set to face-off
The 7th place Canucks will be Calgary's first round opponent this season, as the Flames look to advance beyond the first round since their magical run in the spring of 1989.
Leading the charge for the Canucks is the formidable tandem of Todd Bertuzzi and Markus Naslund (both pictured). The Canucks also possess a deep blueline core of sophomore Jay Bouwmeester, Mattias Ohlund, Ed Jovanovski, and Adrian Aucoin. The colourful Ilya Bryzgalov looks to be the starter, with Kevin Weekes waiting in the wings.
Maurice was confident by cautious. "They've built their team the right way. That backend is one of the best in the league and they've got enough depth upfront too. We went 5-1 against them this year, so we can beat them, but none of that matters now."
For Calgary, the challenge is replacing Dan Boyle's production. The blueliner went down with a Fractured Coracoid in his shoulder and looks to miss the entire post-season. As the injury occurred a month after the trade-deadline, solutions for the Flames have to be found within the organization.
The hope in Calgary is that the team performs better than last year's playoffs where the Flames hosted the Stars and lost in 5 games.
