Today, the Cubs will have a home game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after winning the two previous games these two teams played in Pittsburgh to finish their road trip with a 6-0 mark. The Cubs lead the season series between these two teams 4-1.

In the bottom of the first, the Cubs loaded the bases with nobody out. Steinfeldt drew a five-pitch walk to force in the game's first run. With the count full, Phillippe hit Sheckard with a pitch to bring home another run. Slagle grounded to first to bring Schulte home with a run. The Cubs then reloaded the bases with two out allowing the pitcher Brown to deliver a two-run single to complete the five-run first.

In the top of the second, Clarke was thrown out at home trying to score from first on a Nealon two-out double.

In the top of the third, Leach was thrown out at home trying to score from first on a Ganley double.

In the bottom of the third, Sheckard scored from third when Slagle grounded to short.

After three: Chicago 6 Pittsburgh 0.

In the bottom of the sixth, Sam Leever took the mound for the Pirates.

After six: Chicago 6 Pittsburgh 0.

In the bottom of the seventh, Schulte padded his stats with an RBI single.

In the top of the ninth, Wagner put the Pirates on the board with an RBI double. Clarke brought Wagner home with a single. The Pirates went on to load the bases with one out before Nealon grounded into the game-ending 6-4-3.

The Cubs recorded 10 hits in the win.
