This is obviously subjective, but where do you draw the line when you have a pretty solid team but it's underperforming on the field? 10, 20 under 500? 15 games out? My Twins are fairly stacked and expected to make the playoffs, but 60 games into the season, we're 12 games behind Cleveland and 10 games under 500.

I'm obviously playing as GM only. I guess my choices are, hire Mike Soscia and try to turn things around, or, let us finish our freefall and dump salary before the trade deadline.
I'm not a big fan of making a change, just to make a change.

If you haven't identified the manager as the problem, then there's no reason to change him.

A lot of people will see an underperforming team change managers, and then the team will improve, and they'll credit that to the manager. But, that makes no sense. If the team is underperforming, then the expectation is that they'll improve. So, no reason to think it was the new manager who is responsible.

But, I digress.

If you think your team is stacked, I'd ride it out and see what happens.
If you have weaknesses, you can improve, you should try to improve them. But, consider the hole you've dug - you don't want to give up too much future for this season if you're already unlikely to make the playoffs.
