June 1920 (Part Two)

June 19, 1920
Trade season is upon us as Amelia City and Port Magnolia are the first to break the ice. The big ticket is 34 year old RF Jeremias Mal, who can provide a very solid contribution off the bench with the bat. He's posted a 156 OPS+ over 118 plate appearances this season for the Metros so could prove a useful addition for the Dolphins as they look to turn the season around. The Metros get nothing back aside from some future promise.

The All-Star roster was announced and Whiskeytown catcher Joel de Vries was announced as the player with the most votes -- with 254,159 to his name.

Unfortunately the day came with bad news for his fans. He hadn't made an appearance on a field since he was hit by a pitch that shattered his hand in late May. It was confirmed that his recovery will be delayed for another two months. If we're lucky then we'll get to see De Vries in a cameo performance at the end of the season. The Ducks are 15.5 games out of the division and 9 games out of a wildcard spot. Their playoff hopes are floundering.

But anyway, your 1920 All-Stars everyone.

The West is the best! They take the slim victory at Sugar Factory Grounds.

Here's where the standings sit at all the break.
