In the bottom of the first, Lumley put the Superbas on the board with a sacrifice fly as the Superbas got their first run before they got their first hit.
In the top of the third, the Pirates loaded the bases with two out. Miller brought the three runners home with a triple. Miller then scored on a throwing error by Jordan after he fielded a Wilson grounder.
In the bottom of the third, Wheat got a two-out RBI single. A walk followed to load the bases with two out. But Willis struck out Alperman to get out of the inning.
