The race for Pitcher of the Year may have been clear but MVP couldn't have been more confused. Kian Lehn took out the prize by the smallest margin possible. He even got less first place votes than his main competition -- Northlands RF Jon Jackson -- but a stronger showing in the secondary places tipped the balance to Lehn.
The case for Jackson is strong, Jackson was the home run champion and led the league in slugging and OPS. He also amassed a handy total of stolen bases and at the very least, neutral defensive value.
But alas, it'll be Lehn's name in the history books but Jackson is only 28 and will likely find himself back here one day.
Here's Lehn's achievements for the season.
- Key offensive component of the Dustland Sharks -- who made the playoffs this season!
- 23 game hit streak. Tied for best in the league (and first to do it)
- League leader in OPS+, wRC+
- Top 5 in AVG, OBP, SLG, OPS, WAR, Hits, Doubles, wOBA
- Selected for the All-Star game with the highest vote count of anyone
- 1x Batter of the Month Award
- Selected as the best hitter in his position.
- 1x 3 Home Run Game
