The university season is back which means that COBRA cannot be far away.
The Northlands College of Technology is keen to defend their title and they've got a fantastic array of hitters to do it. None better than Catcher Daniel Irvine who'll be hoping for a triumphant finish to his college career.
Hoping to disrupt that narrative is the Saffron School of Magic. After a dominant 30-6 season that was upended by the Northerners in the final, the Sluggers are hopeful they can right that wrong with a title.
Their bullpen features a pitcher that has baseball folk very excited.
Turner has stuff that projects out to 131 grade. The highest that anyone currently in COBRA grades out to is Max Steel, with 89 stuff. Heck, his current rating of 75 stuff is better
right now than all but 5 pitchers in COBRA.

The march to summer continues as the High School season kicks off. Crimson Forest High School is hopeful of defending their title but they'll have some strong competition especially from Southern Salt Quarter Academy and Dustland Boy's High School.
Brewing some excitement from Dustland Boy's is First Baseman Kevin Ballard who's projecting out to a .448/.533/.713 slash line and will be batting lead-off despite his rather abrupt lack of speed. He won the Platinum Stick Award for 1B last year as a sophomore.
And Southern Salt Quarter Academy will be looking to the guy at their top of their rotation for success this season. The Albatross made it to the final last year so will be hoping to do one better this time round.
White is currently projecting to a 4.48 ERA with the best K/BB ratios in the league. He finished third in the voting for pitcher of the year as a sophomore so he'll be looking to improve on that in his junior year.

Spring training claims it's first big name as Whiskeytown LF J.R. Shouse goes down with injury. A fractured finger will keep him out of action for 4-5 weeks so he'll miss the start of the season.

Pitcher Fred Alltop, injured back in June last year with a torn flexor tendon (ouch)... and still injured for at least another two months joined the payroll of the Amelia City Metropolitans with a $14k/1yr deal.

And as we venture into opening day. More news as the Saffron Turtles picked up 37 year old 1B Zeke Reynolds with a $14k/1yr deal -- his third team in two seasons. The news came something as a shock to fellow 37 year old Hollie Huckabee who was expecting to play the spot.
And BNN published its list of the top prospects in Amelian baseball with Dustland's LF Steven Schueler named the most promising player.
Several on the list came in the draft from last season including Carson Mixon (#2 pick), Christian Tiggs (#1 pick), Asher Sunderland (#8 pick), and Robert Lowe (#9 pick).
Schueler is regarded as pretty raw and BNN doesn't expect him to make it to COBRA level until 1923. Carson Mixon and Christian Tiggs are already up there though with Mixon named as the team's stopper.
