Richard Maxwell has always been a big home run hitter -- he hit 47 last year after all -- but he has been overshadowed by the achievements of his teammate Jon Jackson so the 6'3" 235lb First Baseman can often get overlooked.
But Maxwell has come into 1921 with some new tricks in his arsenal. Not only is he smashing the ball into the stands but he's finding some new places to hit the ball when it stays in the field. After only hitting 12 doubles in 1920 he's already got 8 of them this year.
But it's the home runs that make Maxwell sparkle. His most memorable game of April came up against the Saffron Turtles when Maxwell smashed two 2-run home runs in the 7th and 9th to help insure a dominant 8-3 win for the Polar Bears.
