23 April 2296 - Concord Radstags Swap Schneier for Southie

Reports have surfaced that Concord has agreed to send 16-year-old LHP Chris Schneier, 17-year-old LF Ryan Raider and 31-year-old LHP Jason Narrows to the Starlight Lady Killers in exchange for 16-year-old RHP Johane Iwanski and 26-year-old RHP Gwinnett Southie.

"It's a done deal," said one executive speaking on the condition of anonymity. "I'm surprised word got around so quickly. We just signed off on this an hour ago."

The announcement comes merely hours before the visiting Radstags take on the Lady Killers. None of the players involved are expected to play today, but that may change tomorrow.

Schneier was Concord's sixth-round pick, but reports of a personality conflict between Schneier and teammates started to surface. It was not clear what the nature of that conflict was. No one would mention it, but Sturges, the Concord team owner went straight to Lady Killers' owner Irish Cait about the trade with Schneier on the list despite him doing decently well from the 3rd starter spot. In three games started, Schneier was 1-2 with a 4.91 ERA.

Cait agreed to give up her own 6th round pick, Southie. In three games started, he was 1-0 with a 6.23 ERA.

Narrows was the key to making the deal. Sturges seemed to want to keep Narrows because he has expressed a desire to keep the pitching staff more mature than some other teams. But Narrows was a key component in the Killers making the deal. In two appearances this season, Narrows had a save and had not given up a run in two innings pitched.

Along with Narrows, Starlight picked up reserve outfielder Ryan Raider. Raider, who was the Radstags' 12th round pick was disappointed not to win a spot on the active roster. He could win that role for Starlight since the team was short on outfielders.

In addition to Southie, who will probably become Concord's 2nd starter, making their pitching staff stronger overall, the Radstags also acquired reserve reliever Johane Iwanski. Iwanski was the Killers' 26th pick, but was designated to the reserve roster. He will try to win a spot for Concord.
