Very bad news for Ed Vande Berg. He has a torn flexor tendon in his elbow.
He might, and the emphasis is on 'might', be ready for Opening Day, 1990.
Jim Acker is called up from AAA and is being installed as closer. Michael Klinger is better suited as a set-up man.
