1977 WPK Amateur Draft

So yesterday, while Bobby Erbakan extended his hitting streak to get to within one of tying the WPK record and the first no-hitter of the season was hurled, WPK teams were also entertaining visions of the potential future as they picked players in the annual amateur player draft.

Many experts considered it a weak draft class but other cautioned that such a determination really can't be made for at least another 10-15 years.

Here were the first five players chosen, picked by (in this order) Chicago, Detroit, Seattle, Phoenix, and Pittsburgh.

(Note: this is how these players look to the Denver scouting staff. The OSA, and almost surely the teams that chose these players, see them a bit more optimistically.)
