It's hard to say what counts as bad news for the Phoenix Speed Devils pitching staff given their historic levels of ineptness.
Let's be clear though that Sam Jones 6.48 ERA was second best in the rotation after Ruben Torres' 6.35. And Sam is one of the team co-captains.
But while you wouldn't say that any pitcher could ever be happy to suffer a torn labrum which will sideline them for nearly a year, one has to suspect that on some level there is a sense of relief for Jones not to be an active part of this train wreck of a staff and train wreck of a team for the rest of this season.
