DCR Week 7 Series Recap

The Confidence Man Minute with Travis Miles

This is a transcript from Travis Miles’ post-game sign off of Game Three of the DCR Series of the Week.

The gods of change always have their way, except for the gods of war. War never changes.

While this battle of Brotherhood League teams looked on paper like there could be some drama, in the end, the Finch Farm Four Leafs would do what they were expected to do: win the series. However, County Crossing's Game Three victory not only prevented the Four Leafs from being in sole possession of first place and the Bloodbugs in sole possession of fifth, but the Bloodbugs went against the fates of the war gods for one weekend and took the series, two games to one.

Otherwise, we can see that Finch Farm is the more solid team, right where they are supposed to be at the end: tied for first place with The Slog. County Crossing is supposed to finish in fourth place, where they are, though currently tied with Salem, which is supposed to finish in fifth place, a game back of the Bloodbugs. Do you see where I am going with this?

I am starting to think the gods of war are writing this narrative, the one where war does not change. The Bloodbugs came to play and win, no doubt, but the fates in the end have Four Leafs as the victors. Play 1000 games versus each other, and the Four Leafs win 666 or 667. That's the way it is. That's the way it will be. By County Crossing winning this weekend's series, to overcome previously being swept by the Four Leafs, the season series currently sits at Four Leafs four victories, Bloodbugs two. The way it was. The way it is. The way it will be.

Looking at a few of our standout players, County Crossing's ace Front Porch Potter had perhaps his best performance of the season in Game 1, moving to 3-3 overall. In seven innings, he allowed only two earned runs on two hits with five walks and five strikeouts to help the Bloodbugs win 4-2. In Game 3 tonight, catcher Brian Fuller had a surprising performance. He won game MVP honors by going 2 for 4 with two home runs, his first two of the season. He scored twice and drove in three in the Bloodbugs' 10-5 series-clinching win.

For Finch Farm's standout, leadoff man Ginger Rogers was the game MVP in Game 2 where the Four Leafs won 7-5. Rogers was 2 for 5 with a double, a home run, a run scored, and five runs batted in. That performance allowed Steve Rocky to with the game and move to 5-0 on the season.

Well, fans, that will do it for this week's "The Confidence Man Minute." I am your DC Radio broadcaster, DJ, and news reporter Travis Miles. Join me next week as the DCR crew travels to the Railroad League at Egret Tours Marina where we will watch the Scrappers host the Vault 81 Dwellers. From all of us here at DC Radio, we hope you enjoyed our broadcast. Tomorrow, remember to wear your green. I think I'll go pick up a souvenir Four Leafs jersey before I leave tonight for my trip back to Diamond City. Good night, all!
