22 May 2296 - Nakano Attends Jamaica Plain Game
Jamaica Plain has been exceptionally bad through the first seven weekends, and that poor performance continued yesterday evening in the Treasures’ 13-4 dismantling at the hands of the University Point Deathclaws. The Treasures are now 4-18 on the season, and Season 1 for the squad in Jamaica Plain looks all but lost.
There have been rumors recently surrounding the team, especially concerning team owner Lucas Miller. Apparently, Miller has been concentrating more lately on expanding his business deals to bring more acclaim and caps to Jamaica Plain. While Jamaica Plain does have its quaint attractions, like the Treasures of Jamaica Plain Museum, the biggest selling point these days is that Miller deals more with Quincy, Vault 88, and the Quincy Quarries than he does managing the settlement, and definitely more than he does in managing the baseball team.
Most of the baseball’s Treasures' management has thus fallen to Miller’s assistant, his son-in-law Murray Manhole. In fact, in yesterday’s game, it was especially notable that Miller was not present, but an interesting special guest was, Kasumi Nakano.
Nakano is known as the owner of the Red Rocket franchise. Before the Great War, Red Rocket was a well-known fuel filling station chain. Nakano has taken then well-built structures and built her miniature empire for electrical repairs and rejuvenations. That has meant some comfort to the Commonwealth which includes functioning refrigerator and freezer units, operating machinery in factories, and general repairing needs for radios, terminals, and Pip-boys.
Nakano is the corporate sponsor for the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, which gives the Party Boys’ stadium name, Red Rocket Stadium. That makes the buzz all about why Nakano was at the stadium in Jamaica Plain in the first place. Her “no comment” response to our inquiries tells us there might be more baseball-related reasons than what seems like the obvious reason for visiting Jamaica Plain was.
As Occam’s Razor would amplify, Nakano could be in Jamaica Plain simply for Red Rocket-related business that has nothing to do with baseball. That would seem the likeliest reason, and then Nakano was attending a baseball game just because it was something to do at 4 PM on a Thursday in Jamaica Plain. However, it seems that Miller would also be present instead of Manhole if this was a Red Rocket meeting. In fact, Miller was not in Jamaica Plain at all at the time of this writing.
We will keep our ears to the ground to see what we can learn. It would be no surprise if more changes to the CBO were to occur. After all, this is the first season of the league, and the god of creation may not yet know what he is doing.
