You should find runs per *game* and runs allowed per *game*, which works out to something like runs per 9 innings, especially after things even out a month or so into the season. Very rarely if ever will you see even a 50 game period in which a team's R/G will differ greatly from their R/I. Sometimes a home team won't play the 9th, sometimes you'll go into extra innings, but over time, and usually not even that much time, it all evens out (at least to the extent that all teams wind up playing in about the same number of innings per game).
