IRL, there are anywhere between 80-120 MLB trades per season. Offseason to Offseason.
In OOTP with the highest setting, I count between 50-70.
So not much opportunity for the AI to even unload said players IMO.

Yikes, that sounds like exactly the kind of thing that people will haaaaate if it gets introduced into the game, even if it does improve realism. I’m all for it, I just also remember how salty people got when injuries were first turned way up.
One thing I do wonder is if maybe too the game has got transactions involving major league level players mostly there but it’s all minor league trades that need tweaking. So to the average player perhaps they won’t see a big increase in trades involving major leaguers but there should be be a lot more going on “under the hood”.
The other thing I like about this is that I think it would allow teams to a. have organizational philosophies and b. actually implement them. Like, you could set an AI GM to prefer defense up the middle and power pitching. Over time, with all those trades, they’ll build more and more towards that ideal. With only half the actual trades teams actually make, GM preferences just don’t have as much of a chance to come to the fore except in the draft (when you’re often going for the best player available anyway, and which is very volatile besides).
Right now the game doesn’t do that, necessarily, although I do see where if it feels it has a hole at 3rd base for instance it’ll draft like 5 3B in the early to mid rounds. But if the GM had more of a daily impact, it could...
