Bugwing Hits in 20 Straight Games: Chalk up another one for The Slog Ghouls third baseman Stoop Bugwing. He now has hit in 20 straight games. Bugwing went 1-for-5 today's game at Easy Town Field but saw his club defeated 10-7 by the host East Boston Prep Assaultrons.

"Playing on the road always makes it harder to get hits and to get wins," Ghouls manager Mack O'Shea said after the game. "We got one of the two, but unfortunately it was the wrong one."

Stoop Bugwing struck out in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.

Bugwing is hitting at a .353 mark this season. His stats show 3 home runs, 30 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has played 38 games for the Ghouls.

Nordhagen Beach Befuddled by Cartrette in 7-0 Whitewash: In a splendid 7-0 shutout performance, Mike Cartrette of the Salem Witch Hats subdued the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys on a 6-hitter.

"He kept hitting his spots and putting up zeroes, so I kept sending him out there," Salem player-coach Josh Historybuff said in postgame comments.

Cartrette registered 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Over the season Cartrette has thrown 41.2 innings and dished out 33 strikeouts with a 2-2 mark and a 5.62 ERA.

McBride Belts Bunch of Base Hits: No matter what the Concord Radstags threw him today, Hubris McBride hit it. The 18-year-old Starlight Lady Killers third baseman racked up 5 hits in 5 at-bats today at Valentine Detective Agency Field and led the Lady Killers to a 19-9 victory.

Hubris McBride singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Johane Iwanski in the 5th and singled in the 5th.

So far this year McBride has 7 home runs and a .356 batting average.

Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for Seaweed: The hot bat of Treasures right fielder David Seaweed continues to churn out hit after hit, game after game. His consecutive-game hitting streak now numbers 20 games after he went 3-for-5 in today's 11-8 loss to the Gunners at The Treasure Box.

"I'm trying not to think about it much," he said later. "I don't want to mess with whatever zone I'm in."

David Seaweed grounded out in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jeff Rickashaw in the 7th, tripled in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.

Thus far this season Seaweed has hit .392 with 12 home runs, 36 RBIs and scored 32 times.

27 June

Crook Raps Shaw HS for 5 Hits: Adam Crook was on fire today and sparked his club to a 17-6 victory over the Knuckle Punchers. The Fairline Hill Estates left fielder was a tough out and went 5-for-6 against Shaw HS in a fine hitting display.

"I got my pitches and I connected. They all found the right holes on the diamond. Some days you hit shots and they're right at somebody and some days they fall in."

Adam Crook singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

Crook is currently batting .346 with 5 home runs, 23 RBIs and 32 runs scored. He has 56 hits in 162 at-bats.

Pettinato Extends Hit Streak to 25 Games: Ben Pettinato extended his consecutive-game hitting streak to 25 games today in the Quincy 10-6 triumph over the Jamaica Plain Treasures. The 18-year-old Gunners third baseman collected 1 hit in 5 at-bats.

"Of course it's going to end," he said. "I'm just enjoying it until then."
Ben Pettinato flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.

Currently Pettinato is batting .389 with 4 home runs and 43 RBIs.

Assaultrons Snap Bugwing's Streak at 20: The East Boston Prep Assaultrons did something to Stoop Bugwing no team had done for the last 20 games -- they stopped him, ending his consecutive-game hitting streak. Unfortunately, they couldn't do the same to the Ghouls, who came away with the 11-4 victory at Easy Town Field.

"Hey, I knew it wasn't going to last forever," the 30-year-old third baseman said of the demise of his streak. "It was a good ride while it lasted."

Thus far this year Bugwing is hitting .342 with 3 home runs, 31 RBIs and 28 runs scored.
