DCR Week 13 Series Recap
The Confidence Man Minute with Travis Miles
This is a transcript from Travis Miles’ post-game sign off of Game Three of the DCR Series of the Week.
Lucky 13 is in the books, and we are down to the final 21 games of the season. In this weekend’s series, we saw the Quincy Gunners come in and defeat the Jamaica Plain Treasures 10-6 here at The Treasure Box.
As a result, the Gunners take the series, two games to one. They move to 19-20 on the season, right in the middle of a jumbled pack in the middle of the Minutemen League standings. The Atom Cats are currently in second at 20-19. Third is University Point playing against Warwick as we speak. Quincy and Goodneighbor keep pace with each other at 19-20, each only one game back.
For Jamaica Plain, their exciting news this week was that Kasumi Nakano has purchased the team, and that will hopefully give them life in 2297. It seemed to boost them this weekend as they won Game 1, but Games 2 and 3 were all Quincy. The Treasures are now 13-26 and look to be the team everyone else hopes they play. Next week that happens to be the Cats.
For outstanding players this weekend, Alan Settler of the Treasures was the top player in Game 1. He was 3 for 4 with three runs scored, an RBI, and a walk. John Atomson added a home run, knocked in four, and scored twic in that game as Jamaica Plain won it 13-5.
In Game 2, David Driftwood of Quincy was the game MVP and had the best performance of the weekend. In the Gunners’ 11-8 win, Driftwood was 3 for 4 with a double, two home runs, three runs scored, four runs driven in, and a walk.
Today’s top player was Dan Derp for the Gunners. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI.
Well, that will do it for this week’s edition of “The Confidence Man Minute” with Travis Miles. Next week’s matchup will be a Brotherhood League showdown between the 21-18 Salem Witch Hats, who have just completed the sweep at the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, against the County Crossing Bloodbugs at 19-19. The Bloodbugs are currently tied 0-0 with Finch Farm in Game Three at Brewtown Brewery Stadium. I suppose next week is a bunch of free Bobrov’s products from my old friends Vadim and Yefim.
