1 July 2296 - Batters of the Month
BL - BL Batter of the Month Honors to Treestump: For being a 5th-round pick, Chris Treestump certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the BL Batter of the Month award for June.
The 18-year-old right fielder for the Salem Witch Hats hit .440 with 4 home runs, 19 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
So far this season Treestump has hit .345 with 9 home runs, 43 RBIs and scored 32 times.
IL - Qesadena Wins Best Bat Trophy in June: At only 16 years of age, Willie Qesadena could very well be having many more months like the last this in his career.
That would be great news for fans of the Starlight Lady Killers, as June was one to remember for the first baseman and he has captured the Institute League Batter of the Month award.
On the month he hit .420 with 5 home runs, 20 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
So far this year Qesadena is batting .350 with 9 home runs, 44 RBIs and 36 runs scored.
ML - Torrid June Gets Seaweed ML #1 Batter Trophy: Jamaica Plain Treasures fans believe they've got a talented young star in David Seaweed.
He did nothing to dissuade that notion in June, as he hit .429 with 7 home runs, 12 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
The end result was the right fielder being named the Minutemen League Batter of the Month.
In 39 games this season Seaweed has batted at a .386 pace with 61 hits and 13 home runs.
RL - RL Best Hitter Trophy Goes to Perez: When B.J. Perez stepped up to the plate in June he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Railroad League Batter of the Month award.
The young Oberland center fielder posted a .517 batting average with 2 home runs, 14 RBIs and scored 17 runs. Perez also worked pitchers for 2 walks to post a .541 on-base percentage.
This year Perez is hitting at a .439 pace with 4 home runs and 35 RBIs. He has played in 39 games and scored 45 times.
1 July 2296 - Pitchers of the Month
BL - Artman Best BL Starter in June: Terrence Artman took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the Brotherhood League Pitcher of the Month award for June.
The 27-year-old Witch Hats starter earned his second Pitcher of the Month award, racking up an impressive 3-1 won-lost record in 4 starts. This month he fanned 27 batters in 26.1 innings and compiled a 4.44 ERA.
Checking out his stats for the season, Artman has registered 9 wins and 4 losses in 14 starts, 5.25 ERA and struck out 76 batters in 96 innings.
IL - Fusion Earns IL Top Pitcher Trophy: Tim Fusion has made fans throughout Institute League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 3-0 record. No pitcher in the Institute League threw better in June, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today.
In 4 starts Fusion compiled a 2.70 ERA, putting up a 3-0 record, striking out 23 and tossing 30 innings.
Thus far this season, Fusion has tossed 95.2 innings in 13 starts, fanned 86 batters, walked 24 and put up a 3.29 ERA with 7 wins and 3 losses.
ML - ML's #1 Starter is Malone: Quentin Malone, a 26-year-old starter and the University Point Deathclaws' first-round pick, won the June Pitcher of the Month award.
In June, he topped off the month with a 3-0 mark and 3.94 ERA in 4 starts, tossed 32 innings, fanned 31 and held opposing teams to a .240 average.
This year Malone has compiled a 7-2 mark with a 4.89 ERA.
RL - Bush Gets RL #1 Pitcher Trophy: Over the past month Papa Bush has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the established arms in the Railroad League. He proved all that and now he's been named June's Pitcher of the Month.
The 9th-round pick for the Oberland T-51s posted 4-0 mark and a 4.22 ERA. In 4 starts he tossed 32 innings, permitted 40 hits and fanned 25 batters.
This season to date Bush has a record of 7 wins and 1 loss with a 6.20 ERA, has appeared in 11 games and struck out 48 in 65.1 innings.
1 July 2296 - Abernathy-East Boston Prep Trade: DiGrande and Behr for Pitones
Trade winds have been blowing through Abernathy. This time, a deal has materialized between the Adamantium and Assaultrons. According to sources inside the organization, Abernathy will ship 17-year-old LHP Zach DiGrande and 17-year-old RHP Chad Behr to East Boston Prep for 17-year-old RHP David Pitones.
DiGrande, the 24th pick for the Adamantium, has appeared in eight games on the season. In 16.2 innings pitched, he has allowed seven earned runs on 16 hits with 13 walks and 21 strikeouts. He is 1-0 with a 3.78 ERA.
Behr started one game for Abernathy. In that start, he had a no decision in 6.2 innings, allowing six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. He allowed one earned run for a 1.35 ERA.
Pitones, who has been traded for the second time this season, has appeared in a total of 15 games for both The Slog and East Boston Prep. In those games, he allowed 15 earned runs on 33 hits with five walks and five strikeouts. He is 0-1 with a 6.64 ERA. Pitones was originally signed by the Ghouls as an undrafted free agent, but Abernathy seems to believe he may have more long-term potential than both DiGrande and Behr.
