DCR Week 14 Series Recap

The Confidence Man Minute with Travis Miles

This is a transcript from Travis Miles’ post-game sign off of Game Three of the DCR Series of the Week.

Good afternoon from a beautiful afternoon in County Crossing's Beantown Brewery Stadium where we saw the visiting Salem Witch Hats defeat the home Bloodbugs for an 8-6 victory. With the win, the Witch Hats take two of three this weekend and improve to 23-19, while the Bloodbugs fall to 20-22 on the season. I am Travis Miles, and you are listening to "The Confidence Man Minute" right here on Diamond City Radio, your leader in news, sports, and jams in the Commonwealth.

Looking at our top players each game, Thursday night's game MVP was Mushy Levy of the Bloodbugs in their 13-5 win. He was 3 for 5 with two doubles, three runs scored, and three runs batted in. Little Jemmy Madison was the winner after relieving Front Porch Potter. June pitcher of the month Terrence Artman was the loser.

Game 2 was a mid-afternoon matchup where the Witch Hats prevailed, 9-4. The top player in that one was determined to be Salem leadoff hitter Sean Koester. He was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two walks. Mike Cartrette got his third win of the season. Bad Company Grognak dropped to 3-7 with the loss.

Today's game MVP was Salem center fielder Mike Castillo. He was 3 for 5 today with a double and three RBI. Pistol Schmidt and Mike Laughingman each went deep for the Witch Hats. Tom Mastodon was 2 for 5 for County Crossing with a triple, a run scored, and three RBI. Relay Meacham got the win today in relief of Roy Syme. Tom Rose lost the game.

We have made a change in our lineup for next week to get a bit of a better and more important matchup. Instead of going to the Jamaica Plain-Goodneighbor series as we originally planned, we are instead going to head to the Institute League for the first time since Week 9 where we will watch the Starlight Lady Killers, who have a chance today to tie Abernathy for first place if they beat the Adamantium. The Killers will visit Sunshine Tidings who moved to 23-19 and third place with their 9-6 win at Fort Hagen this afternoon.
