The Military Ammo Bag with Rex, George, and Anne
R: It has been a wonderful night, and we have watched a wonderful but long game. It is nearly midnight here at Atomatoys Stadium. I am your sometimes humble, sometimes abrasive host, Rex Goodman. You are listening to WRVR's CBO post-game show, "The Military Ammo Bag with Rex, George, and Anne." In tonight's contest, we watched the Egret Scrappers outduel their opponents, 11-10. The Scrappers beat Shaw H-S, where the 'H' stands for "High" and the 'S' stands for "School," in two out of three competitions. We are a land minus high school, but the building structure still stands. In my personal opinion, the team name and nickname wreak of juvenile delinquency rather than a standard of athletic ferocity. That is just one man's aggressive opinion, so it may not be everyone's.
G: Not to mention that a toy factory is the home stadium, too. You make a good point, Rex.
R: Indeed, I do.
G: I am going to jump right into it with the Outstanding Pitcher of the Week. It's not tonight's game, that's for sure. But we did have a pitcher's duel yesterday afternoon when the Knuckle Punchers won it 2-1. The best pitcher was the winner for Shaw, Brad Westing, who earned just his second win of the season versus his previous 11 losses. In yesterday's game, he pitched 8 and 1/3 innings and only allowed on earned run. He gave up seven hits, walked four, and struck out eight.
A: That was a great game, too, George. For Egret being a much better team, they certainly had to scrap for wins. My award is the Bottoms Up Award, the backhanded award for a team losing in the game yet winning in the end. I'm also going to rest my tush on Game 2 since a single hit proved to be the game winner. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning, Shaw High School's Damani Beebe stepped up to the plate with one out and Mike Thunderdome on second base after singling and stealing second base. On the first pitch to Beebe, he hit a deep fly ball over the left field wall for a two-run home run, which gave the Knuckle Punchers the lead 2-1, also the final score of the game. So, to Beebe, bottoms up!
R: I do hope you slow down on your consumption of that wine, Anne. We must wake early tomorrow for travel. Speaking of travel, we will not know where we are headed until tomorrow morning when Diamond City Radio makes its announcement, but our correspondent seems to believe that they will be in the Institute League for a second straight week. Therefore, we will be either right back here in the Railroad League, or we will find a competitive game to cover in the Brotherhood or Minutemen Leagues. Regardless of where we go, we are sure to cover a game with two winning teams.
Thank you, my contemporaries. The distinguished award for Most Outstanding Player of the Week goes to Starlight second baseman Wild Cannon. The wild child of the Wastelands had a most successful week with 8 hits in 15 at bats, three doubles, 4 runs, and 4 runs batted in.
As far my award on "The Military Ammo Bag," I will award this weekend's most outstanding player, which, of course, would seem to be one of the Scrappers since they were the winning team. However, despite the series loss, our Bottoms Up Award winner is also our Most Outstanding Player, and he showed that by having a standout performance today. That man is Damani Beebe. For the weekend, he had 8 hits in 14 at bats. He doubled once, homered twice, scored two times, and drove in seven men, including himself twice. For this weekend, he was most certainly the Most Outstanding Player.
I am going to conclude this week's show with my biographical song, you know, personality. Listen to Johnny Mercer and The Pied Pipers sing the song titled "Personality"
